Jeho láska k hudbě započala už v mladém věku. Zpívat začal už ve čtyřech letech, a to v kostelním sboru. Na kytaru se taky učil hrát už jako malý. Na střední škole Thomas Mills High School v Framlinghamu se pustil do psaní vlastních písní.
